现存最古老的伦敦桥版本可能是在1823年绅士杂志的一名记者听见了一名的妇女在查尔斯二世 （1660至1685年） 统治时期成长的口述：London Bridge is broken down(注意：歌词有变，后来的版本是“falling down”,也就是“正在倒下来”，在这里是“已经倒塌”，有趣的是：后世的版本反而是“正在倒下来”）
